Well-known memorials

Great Southern Memorial Park has provision to place official commemorative plaques for eligible veterans in our Serviceman’s Section. We are also happy to position a plaque for spouses next to people who served their country.

This special area graces the entrance to Great Southern Memorial Park.

The central focus of our Serviceman's Section is a flagpole surrounded by rosemary garden beds.

Since ancient times this aromatic herb is believed to have properties that improve memory. Perhaps because of this, rosemary became an emblem of remembrance in literature and folklore.

Traditionally, people wear sprigs of rosemary on ANZAC Day and sometimes on Remembrance Day. Rosemary also has particular significance for Australians because grows wild on the Gallipoli peninsula.
